National Chairman, Consumer Confederation of India
Dr. Anant Sharma is a nationally and internationally recognized consumer protection leader with over forty years of dedicated work in strengthening India’s consumer rights ecosystem. Known for transforming the consumer movement from limited awareness into a nationwide mass movement, he currently serves as the National Chairman of the Consumer Confederation of India (CCI).
Originally trained as an Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Sharma chose journalism as his professional path and devoted his life to consumer welfare. He also serves as the National Secretary of the Association of Small and Medium Newspapers of India.
His social journey began with the establishment of the Genius Students Society, through which scholarships and recognitions were provided to thousands of students nationwide.
His consumer protection work began during his student years. In 1991, he founded the Consumers Action and Network Society (CANS). In 1992, he became the founding President of the All Rajasthan Consumer Organization Federation, representing over 70 consumer groups.
In 1993, he launched Consumers World, a fortnightly magazine for consumer awareness. During the formation of CCI in 2001, he was unanimously elected as its first National Convener. He also leads the Central Council of VCAs & PCAs as National Chairman.
Dr. Sharma has participated in more than 2,500 television programs, authored over 700 articles, and delivered more than 1,000 keynote addresses across India.
He has traveled over 800,000 kilometers organizing consumer awareness campaigns. Under his leadership, over 50,000 consumers received free legal aid, and nearly 1,000 consumer complaints were personally facilitated by him.
Dr. Sharma has represented India internationally on consumer rights and serves on major committees including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), International Standards Organization (ISO), and ZRUCC of Indian Railways.
Honored with numerous national awards, Dr. Anant Sharma is widely known as the “Consumer Man of India” and continues to educate millions through campaigns and digital platforms.
