The Consumer Confederation of India (CCI) is India’s largest and most established network of Voluntary Consumer Organizations (VCOs), dedicated to strengthening consumer rights, promoting fair trade practices, and building a transparent and accountable marketplace across the country.
CCI was formed on May 6, 2001, at the Constitutional Club, New Delhi, with a clear vision to unify consumer organizations nationwide and provide a strong collective voice for consumer protection at every level of governance. The organization is managed through the Consumer Confederation Trust, registered in New Delhi, with its administrative headquarters in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
CCI is officially recognized by leading national authorities, including NGO Darpan, NITI Aayog (Registration No. DL/2022/0331913) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS – BISCR169), reflecting its credibility and national standing.
CCI is governed by its National Governing Council, ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic coordination across the country.
For more than 25 years, CCI has played a vital role in strengthening India’s consumer protection ecosystem through nationwide consumer awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and capacity building of over 400 affiliated voluntary consumer organizations.
Consumer experts associated with CCI actively contribute to committees of the Central and State Governments, BIS, and other regulatory bodies, ensuring that consumer interests are represented in national policymaking.
To strengthen India’s consumer ecosystem by ensuring transparency, fairness, and empowerment for every citizen, while working toward a marketplace free from exploitation, malpractice, and misinformation.
